Retinal Lasers

Argon laser photocoagulation is used to treat a number of retinal conditions including retinal tears/retinal detachments, diabetic retinopathy, & retinal vein occlusion. Dr. Shienbaum performs the laser procedure in the office. The procedure is typically quick, lasting only a few minutes, with minimal discomfort. Normally there is no downtime after the procedure and patients can resume their normal activities right away. Depending on the patient’s retinal condition, laser may either be used as a stand-alone treatment or as an adjunct to another course of treatment (most frequently intravitreal injections).
